Xiuyan Jade is not a true jade, but rather consists of a high proportion of Serpentine minerals. In China, such material is sold as a Jade but as it mainly consists of Serpentine materials, rather than Jadeite or Nephrite Jade, it would be better to treat it as a Serpentine material. Regardless the case, the stone makes for very striking products with a unique pattern and varying hues of green. This coaster consists of one solid piece of Xiuyan (Serpentine) Jade and has been gold plated. The last photo is a sample of how a similar coaster looks like with a small glass on it.
